Introduction
New Markets Solutions (NMS) is a specialist retail markets consultancy that primarily works for local markets authorities which seek to regenerate their markets as key niche town centre attractions in an era of intense competition.
The Director of NMS has extensive, in-depth personal experience of implementing change and in developing all sizes and types of markets - including major metropolitan and district markets.
His roles of Markets General Manager/Chief Officer/Head of Markets/Assistant Director of Leisure and Amenities included major redevelopment of small, medium and large open and covered markets, market halls, shopping malls and shopping centres, together with introducing specialist market events - exampled by one of the first Christkindlemarkts - into town centre precincts to increase the attractions of town centre leisure shopping.
Working with teams of over 30 markets staff and with architects, surveyors, lawyers, planners and property professionals - and alongside political representatives - Chris New created a respected knowledge base of undoubted worth to the markets industry.
As a specialist Markets Adviser to national representative organisations, for many years he supported the LGA (Local Government Association), the AMA (Association of Metropolitan Authorities), NABMA (the National Association of British Market Authorities) - and he is a Past President of the Institute of Market Officers. In supporting markets management nationally, Chris is the Member Support Consultant for the NABMA.
Chris New has lectured to Members of the House of Lords and Members of Parliament - and provided both formal and oral evidence to the Parliamentary Select Committee into traditional retail markets.
The NMS markets case study and analytical approach provides insight and meaningful depth to project reports, quickly enabling stakeholder understanding of the key local issues within the national context in order to enable clear focus and objectivity. The NMS approach creates a strong, directional and professional influence for local authorities and other markets stakeholders.
